Middle School Component
Marina Del Rey Middle School
Since its establishment in 2000, Bruin Partners has offered an after school tutoring and mentoring program at Marina del Rey Middle School. On Mondays through Thursdays, UCLA students travel to Marina del Rey to work with mentees one-on-one, offering academic tutoring and personal mentorship. Our mentors serve as role models to mentees, encouraging them to pursue higher education and foster personal growth.
Marina del Rey Middle School is unique in that it is one of the most racially diverse middle schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Additionally, students commute from a multitude of neighborhoods. Bruin Partners prides itself on creating a safe place for students to learn, laugh, and grow, regardless of racial or class background. We facilitate not only beneficial relationships between our mentees and mentors, but also build a healthy community for mentees to get to know each other.
Middle School Site Times
**Unfortunately, we will not be tutoring at any middle schools this quarter. If you are interested in joining Bruin Partners you will have the opportunity to volunteer at one of our three partner high schools instead**
Transportation to and from site is provided!

Mentors commit to one site day per week and are expected to attend site consistently during weeks 3 - 9 of the quarter.
Typically, mentors are paired up with one student and will work with him or her throughout the quarter, or across multiple quarters if possible. Consistency is important in order to build a helpful and healthy mentor-mentee relationship.
