High School Component
Whitman Continuation School, Phoenix Continuation School, and John F. Kennedy High School
HSC (or the High School Component) is a program in Bruin Partners, separate to the Middle School Component, that focuses primarily on SAT and ACT preparation.
HSC goes to three different schools: Whitman Continuation School, Phoenix Continuation School, and John F. Kennedy High School. We expect mentors to be well-versed in tips and strategies related to test preparation as students have the most trouble efficiently allotting their time within the duration of testing.
Primarily using a 1-to-1 mentor to student ratio, HSC offers to target specific weaknesses that students want to improve on while giving them a safe space to talk about their own concerns including prospects for college.

Mentors commit to one site day per week and are expected to attend site consistently during weeks 3 - 9 of the quarter.
Typically, mentors are paired up with one student and will work with him or her throughout the quarter, or across multiple quarters if possible. Consistency is important in order to build a helpful and healthy mentor-mentee relationship.
